There’s no doubt about it, Canada is golden for Sandals & Beaches Resorts. In Toronto yesterday, the luxury-included resort company made it abundantly clear that the Canadian market had posted a strong performance in 2009 and that performance continues into 2010. The Honourable Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, chairman and founder of Sandals & Beaches Resorts said during presentations here that its Canadian business was up 200% (yes, that’s two hundred per cent) last year and so far in 2010, the Canadian market is posting gains of 40%. Stewart says that the strength of the Canadian economy during the recession, strong support from travel agencies here and a significant increase in air lift coupled with Sandals & Beaches’ ramped up sales and marketing efforts accounted for the positive results. Seen here, from l to r, are Sandals & Beaches CEO Adam Stewart, Chairman Stewart and senior vice-president of sales, North America, Gary Sadler.
